Writing about superheros

I am a superhero.  My powers are ice, lightening, fire, diamond, poison, teleportation and strength.  I go all over the world fighting villians.  My cape is dark green.  My suit is red, yellow, dark green and a little bit of black. I sometimes  verse very O.P (overpowering) villians.  I can make any weapons out of ice, fire, lightening and diamonds.  I would have lasers shooting out of my eyes.  My fist would turn into fire, lightening, diamonds, ice and lasers.  I am the best.

Our first lesson about Geometry

We recorded everything we knew about shapes, then we had to open an envelope and sorted them into categories. We worked really well in our groups.

Rudi's story about a cake

I had a smile on my face.  I saw a cake.  It looked yum and it was covered in green icing.  The candles were melting the cake.  The candles went out and then quickly, I gobbled the cake up!

Our seed hunt

Today we went for a seed hunt and found lots of interesting objects for our writing. We learnt that there are different sizes and that most food has seeds in them.

This is Amelia's writing today.

Seeds are tiny and big also normal size. You bury the seeds. You water the seeds, it also needs sun. That's what you need to make a seed grow.

Ethan wrote

Seeds grow plants like Pohutakawa and Oak trees and flowers.  Seeds are cool because they can grow lots of plants.  Seeds are colours like black and brown and green. Seeds are sometimes long and big and small.  You find seeds in plants with pods. 

Heath wrote

Seeds need water, a little but of sun, some space, air and some soil.  You flowers you can pick for your Mum and some of them you can eat. Some grow into food. 

SELF PORTRAITS

Today we learnt about what how to draw self portraits. We looked at where our eyes, nose and mouth is on our face. We also looked at the shape of our features. We found it quite hard to make them look real.  We also looked closely at our faces to see what made us special e.g glasses, freckles, moles etc. We will put our final pictures on the blog for you to see later. 

HAPPY BIRTHDAY XAVIER!

Today is Xaviers birthday and he has brought in cupcakes for us. They were delicious!

Fraction Creatures

We had different amounts of squares to make a creature.  We had to work out what half of that number is.  Rudi and Lucas know that 17 is half of 34!

Reading

This week we have been reading in our reading groups and doing fun activities based on the books we have been reading.  Ashton and Jessica have been reading about a praying mantis.

They have learnt that a praying mantis can sit very still until a fly comes along.  They like to eat flies.

Today Room 13 did Swim Safety.  We learnt how to stay together, keep warm and make a yellow circle so a helicopter can come and save us.  We had alot of fun!

Statistics

We watched the Wizard of Oz and discussed all the characters.  There were 10 characters and we had our favourite.  Look at what we discovered.

On our first day we had to work in teams to make the highest marshmellow towers. We had to listen, share ideas and work together to make it successful.
