We have Anzac Day because it reminds us of the soldiers who went to war to save our lives. Some died, some lived.  None of us would be here but for them.
My great, great, great grandfather went in the war. My grandfather died.  I will remember the Halliday the went in the war.
When some came back from the war they wanted to remember their friends that fought alongside them.
We wear poppies because that type of flower was growing where they died.  That is why we have Anzac Day.  Come back for us, we wish you never died Australian and New Zealand people.

ANZAC ART

We created some amazing Anzac Art with Mrs Bullen.

Completing our Learning Pathways

We brainstormed how we can use what we have learnt this term about Maori.  We had so many ideas! We had a vote and decided to make some Memory flashcards so that we can continue to learn Maori words.
We chose some categories and split into teams.  We had a team making colour flashcards, classroom furniture flashcards, animal flashcards and body part flashcards.
We had fun playing with them.

MEASUREMENT

We can measure using equipment (blocks).  We are learning to use rulers accurately to find the difference in length between two objects.

The Duck Factory

We are learning about collaboration and learning together,
We have been using a variety of co-operative structures to complete tasks.  Today we used an expert jigsaw to make ducks. We learnt how to become an 'expert' and bring it back to my group to share.

Weaving

Weaving was a lot easier than making poi.  We had to remember to alternate our 'under and overs'.  We thought they looked good because of the Maori colours we used.

Making Poi

Poi making was difficult.  We worked in a team to make plait 8 pieces of string together.  We then asked our buddy class to help us finish them - thankyou Room 15!
Our next step is to learn how to use them!
