Interview with Nana and Poppa  - By Holly

I love school! But I wonder how it went for my Nana and poppa. I wrote down my ten favourite things about school and made them into questions. We drove over to their house and interviewed them.
They went to different schools. Nanas went to Northcote primary and only had to walk straight down the road to get there, it took her only a few minutes and she would wave to her Grandma on the way. Poppa went to two primary schools: Ohura district school,
then Tokoroa central primary. On his first day as a 5 year old he had to go on a school bus for 20 kilometers!!
I'm so happy I live close to my school!

My Poppa wore a uniform at one school. But my Nana didnt. They both showed me their class photos and I noticed Nana was wearing something like a uniform. She had brownies after school so wore her brownies uniform all day.

I love playing animal games with Jessica and Brooke.
Nana loved playing fingerpuppets and the ball game four-square with her friends Ruth and Lianne,
Poppa played marbles, bullrush and rugby with his mates Robert and Frank.

I wanted to know what maths games and maths sheets they did.
Poppa dosent remember any games, he loved doing spelling, but his favourite teacher, Mrs Davidson made learning fun!
Nana loved maths! Her maths teacher Mr Sefton made it really challenging for her.
They did not have maths sheets. Instead they had sums written on the chalk board and they had to go out in front of the class and answer it infront of everyone. To me that sounds like a good way to do maths but i wouldnt want to make a mistake.

We all love lunchtime and some of us (not me) like to order sushi.
Poppa ate marmite and cheese sandwiches...but.. every second Friday he got to buy his lunch. He either got a pie for 6pence, or sausage and chips for 1shilling+ 3pennys.
What?? Whats a pence, shilling and penny I asked him. Thats olden day money before it changed into cents and dollars.

I liked listening to their stories they shared with me from school.
